The Masterpiece Artist Blueprint is the education arm of Masterpiece Recording Group, an independent label. It exists so artists can understand ownership, money, audience and release strategy before someone else decides those things for them.

What we believe

  • Ownership matters.
  • Understanding matters more than industry jargon.
  • Attention is not the same as audience ownership.
  • Release day is not a strategy.
  • A song is art. A catalog is also an asset.
  • Streaming can matter without becoming the entire business model.
  • An artist should understand the agreement before celebrating the agreement.
  • Technology should multiply human creativity, not erase it.
  • Independence does not mean doing everything alone.
  • The goal is leverage and choice.

How it is written

Every article is written in plain language, cites primary sources where rules are involved (for example the U.S. Copyright Office, The MLC, SoundExchange and the IRS), and shows when it was published, last updated and last reviewed.

Material on fast-changing topics — royalties, distribution and AI — is reviewed on a shorter schedule. Pieces that describe how MRG approaches its own work without verified results are labeled strategy breakdowns, not case studies.
